General Power of Attorney (with specific termination date) – Allows an individual(called the “Principal” or “Grantor”) to authorize someone else (called the “Attorney-in-fact” or “Agent”) to act on his or her behalf. This General Power of Attorney document becomes effective immediately upon signing and stays in effect until a set date, as defined in the document, or in the event of the death, disability or incapacity of the Grantor or if the Grantor revokes the document (whichever occurs first).
This form can be used in Iowa.
Another type of Power of Attorney, called a Durable Power of Attorneys (available on this site as well), stays in effect even if the Grantor later becomes disabled or incapacitated.
